The iPad shows no or very low Wi-Fi signal strengths even in areas with adequate signal whereas other devices perform well in the same atmosphere, also problems with Wi-Fi were faced when joining a Home network , it was never the 
same with iPhone. This issue has constantly been addressed by users who grabbed the iPad the very first day, and the problem doesn’t seem to restrict itself to a single user rather a bunch of complains have been coming up and piled up in the Apple’s unofficial forums.
The only place where the iPad works well over the Wi-Fi is near the router, these type of issues have been already seen in Macbook Air, the issues are generally hardware and design issues, and a software patch cannot fix them completely, maybe Apple was trying to run it on low power and save battery life, but that’s ugly a device with a faulty Wi-Fi is very unattractive when it comes to performance.
