Portuguese Will Pay 70 Euros More for iPhone 4

Portugal is getting her iPhone 4 next week. Mobile provider Optimus has the opportunity sell to iPhone 4 in Portugal from August 27. But, among this good news, Portuguese customers will have to pay 70 Euros more to get an iPhone 4.

Untill now, it was bad in New Zealand, where the Kiwis has to pay NZ$1299 (about US$918) for a 32GB iPhone 4. But at 769.90 euros, a 32 GB iPhone 4 costs nearly NZ$100 (US$71) more in Portugal than in New Zealand, where mobile handset prices are usually among the highest in the world. The 16 GB iPhone 4 will cost at 679.90 euros in Portugal.

Optimus hasn’t offered any definite reasons for raising the price by 70 Euros and we wonder how Apple would like to take this issue.

Foxconn Will Hire More People in China to Meet the Production Demand of Biggies

Foxconn, the Taiwan based manufacturer of electronics goods and also the maker of the Apple iPhone, iPod and iPad, has declared its plans to hire more 400,000 workers over the next 1 year.
The management has aso announced that it would enable the company to cut employees’ overtime maintaining the production line.

Foxconn is a part of Hon Hai Precision, the largest maker of consumer electronics in the world. Moreover it is one of the biggest employers in China.

The experts think that the ever increasing demand for Apple’s devices have motivated the decision. However other sources think that the work pressure and treatment to its workers have led to the suicides of 13 Chinese employees, earlier this year, at the Foxconn factories in China. The rise of such cases have raised a concern over the work pressure. It was revealed that the workers get compelled to work overtime to earn money and at the same time the high production demand.

However, the Foxconn management has always denied that the suicides were work-related and that the company mistreats its workers. But it has admitted that the people at Foxconn have to do more overtime than the maximum limit permitted by Chinese law.

It has also argued that many of the major manufacturers follow the same thing.
The suicidal cases have threatened to tarnish the image of top the global brands, like Apple, Dell and Nokia, for which Foxconn manufactures laptops and Smartphones.

Early this year, the company has announced wage increases and the plans to open their production centers in China’s inner provinces so that the people, many of whom come from those provinces, can stay closer to their families. However the new hiring will make the count of the Foxconn’s workforce in China as huge as 1.3 million.

110,000 pre-orders in 9 Hours in South Korea!!

iPhone 4 is due to launch on Sepetember in South Korea, but yesterday KT’s servers were shut down due to much congestion. About 110,000 pre-orders went through in just 9 hours! They were needlessly to say overwhelmed by the response. This could mark a record for one-day sales in the country and still online pre orders are due to last for another week.

The iPhone 3GS was a success in Korea, which has traditionally been resistant to foreing brands. Over 850,000 Apple devices have shipped since the original November. This is great concern for the home based company Samsung. However, Samsung siad that it had already sold 800,000 Galaxy S phones in its native territory in less than two months. To help spur sales, Samsung has just launched a white version of the Galaxy S in Korea through KT’s main rival, SK Telecom. The large Super AMOLED screen, fast processor and use of Android have all helped spur sales.

Brides, Priest and An iPad!

ipad weddingReally, it is astonished to see how Apple’s iPad play such a big role in a person’s life that you can almost say they are married to his iPad…and more astonishment, he can get married by his iPad!

Aaron and Katie, the groom and the bride…their wedding got fecilitated by an iPad! as it made its rounds to the priest and then the bride and groom. Not only did bride Katie read her vows to husband Aaron from the iPad, she composed them on it as well.

Aaron and Katie’s wedding was held outdoor, a shade was provided to help reading from the iPad easier as iPad and sunlight does not make a good ‘couple’ for readability. I think this wedding certainly qualify for off-beat nuptials. What do say folks?
