Today it was announced in the Google Mobile blog that from now on the Google Mobile App for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad will now support push notifications of calendar events and emails. It will support both Gmail and Google hosted email.
The update is now available in the App Store — allows you to sign into one or several Google accounts and set up Gmail and Google Calendar push events, which work just as you’d expect. This is an important update, because Apple only allowed its own MobileMe and Yahoo accounts to do push for web mail. As of later today, the Google Mobile app will work for new emails/calendar events via Push notifications server to alert iOS users.
So another update to rejoice for Google fanatics, Push Notifications are finally here!
